Changing Favorite Nfl Team!?
I’m trying to get a new NFL team to follow. I’m 13 and I was raised in a family where baseball is most important. My dad’s family likes the Bears and Packers and my mom’s family is Colts and Bengals. Normally when people ask what my team is I say Green Bay because Favre is cool but he’s retiring soon and that’s the only reason I like them. I live in Virginia where the Redskins have been the most followed team. The Ravens also have a small following along with the Steelers. Carolina Panthers are the second most popular team. Should I get a new team, stay with the Packers, or what?

Go with your instincts. If you only like the Packers because of Favre, then you’re really a Favre fan and not a Packer fan. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying a sport, and not really having a favorite team in it. When it comes to sports, the only person you have to please is yourself, because no matter what team you’re a fan of, there will always be opposition.

You say you like the Packers because of Brett Favre. And you say you might go to the Redskins because you live in Virginia.
Because you are a Favre fan you should like someon with a similar gun-slinger sttitude with that same flick-of-a-wrist throwing motion, there is only one player who does that… TONY ROMO of the Dallas Cowboys.
I say become a member of the team and show those dirty Redskins fans that you like a real football team regardless of where you live. Become a Cowboy fan now, and I can guarantee you will never want to leave.
God Bless the Dallas Cowboys! Please become one of us.

Choose a home team and stick with them for your whole life… through good and bad times.

I live in central PA. I am a Cowboys fan. Why, you may ask? I don’t remember. I began cheering for them so long ago that I don’t have a reason for liking them anymore, I just do.
You can’t just pick a team and say, “That’s going to be my favorite team.” There’s always something small that draws you to a team. Whether it be a great play like one of Dante Hall’s touchdown returns from a couple of years ago, or jaw dropping stats like Peyton Manning/LaDanian Tomlinson. You’ll be watching a game and something small will get your attention. That is how you will most likely decide on a favorite team.
On a totally unrelated note. Whoever said that the Packers are the oldest football team, they’re not. This distinction goes to none other than the Cardinals from when they were in Chicago. They started out as a sports club and grew into a professional football team.

Heh…..perfect situation you got there….my two teams involved. I’d say stick with Green Bay if you’re with them now..loyalty is a good thing even if they aren’t doing so well right now. But hey, as a HUGE Panthers fan, I’d say that’s a good choice for you too….I dunno, you have some good choices right there.

stick with the Pack…anyone who switches teams based on player movement (or how the team is doing) isn’t a fan of that team at all…just a bandwagon fan
I like Favre a lot myself…as well as L.T. and Chad Johnson…but my team will always be the Bills…sticking with the team through thick AND thin is the measure of a fan.
unless you’re comfortable being a bandwagon fan…your choice

Picking a team, like picking a mate, is seldom a logical, rational thing. I live in eastern PA, but my favorite team is the Browns, because I spent my formative years in the Cleveland area. We moved back to PA (Eagles market) when I was 11, but I was already a Browns fan for life.
It’s basically whatever team really excites you. My girlfriend is a Packers fan because she likes Favre, and I was able to make one of her dreams come true by taking her to a game at Lambeau last year.

It’s entirely your decision, and you have 32 teams to choose from. Take me and my family for example:
I live in KC, but loathe the Chiefs – even though my youngest brother likes them.
My mom’s from Texas and grew up a Cowboys fan – even though her side of the family lives mostly in Houston, and my grandmother (one of the relatives living in Houston) is an avid Raiders fan.
My dad’s from Pittsburgh and likes the Steelers.
My other brother has waffled between Dallas and Pittsburgh.
My sister’s a Packers fan.
Finally, I’ve been a Rams fan forever, since they were in Los Angeles and even more so when they moved to St. Louis.

Stick with one team – and be loyal to them!!! It’s way too easy to jump on a team’s bandwagon when they’re winning like the Colts. All of these Cowboys fans across the nation, 90% only jumped on their bandwagon after they turned their seasons around and started winning 15 years ago.

Nobody said you can’t be loyal to more than 1 team . but truly to enjoy a game more , you have to have a favored . especially if any of those teams that your loyal too , play each other .

You like whomever you want to, son.
I moved away from the Rockies at 19 after 11 years, and I still follow the Broncos despite living in towns supporting the Dolphins, Chargers, Saints and Seahawks.
I think I know the NFL now.

Just stay with the packers,if you are a true packers fan you would stay with them no-matter what.(and how can your dad’s family like the Packers and the Bears, those teams are bitter rivals)

I like two teams infact they’re Green Bay and Colts there is no problem with liking two teams.

As a lifelong Packer fan, I say stick with the Pack. They are the oldest franchise there is—they invented football along with the Bears.
HOWEVER—I can see them heading into a long losing stretch after Favre is gone……..and it’s hard to be a fan when that happens.
If you put your name on a list for Packer season tickets today, your great-great grandchildren MIGHT get them, and NO other team has fans as devoted as that!!
